Owls Girls Basketball Overcomes 25-11 Deficit to Win 74-61 over Brandon-Evansville For Sub-Section Championship Berth this weekend on Saturday night

The Hancock Owls girls basketball team (21-4) knocked down Brandon-Evansville tonight in the Sub-Section 6A-South semi-finals to advance to Saturday's championship game, which will be held at the friendly confines of the University of Minnesota-Morris P.E. Center at 7:00pm.

The Owls trailed 25-11 early in the game to the 19-6 Chargers. They fought back to make it a 28-21 game going into the locker room.

After halftime, the Owls lit up the net for an amazing 53 second-half points to win going away by double digits.

They will take on the Ashby Arrows, who picked up one of the biggest upsets this area has ever seen by defeating the previously undefeated Battle Lake Battlers 50-47. The Arrows moved to 17-6 on the season, while the Battlers ended 24-1. What a heartbreaking loss for a fine Battle Lake team. Going 1-1 in the playoffs is a terribly sour way to end a season for any state-ranked team.

Saturday night will be a fun game. See you there.
