Owls remain unbeaten in the Pheasant Conference, burying Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 67-34

The Hancock Owls girls basketball team rebounded from their first loss of the season (to Minneota on Saturday) by defeating Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley 67-34 at Graceville. C-G-B falls to 3-9 overall and 0-4 in the Pheasant Conference, while the Owls improve to 14-1 overall and 4-0 in the league.

Up next, a home game next Tuesday, February 1, against Ortonville. The Trojans, who have lost four in a row, fell to Wheaton/Herman-Norcross 62-58 tonight.

Owls suffer first loss of the season

Against visiting Minneota on Saturday, the Hancock Owls girls basketball team traded punches and came back from 13 points down in the second half to have their chances at the end.

The fourth-ranked Vikings moved to 10-1 on the season, though, with a 48-46 win after they went 6-of-8 at the free throw line in the final 75 seconds of the game.

Earlier in the week, the Owls hammered visiting Henning 79-39 in one of the most complete-game performances by the team so far this year.

The Owls (13-1) travel to Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley on Tuesday this week for a Pheasant Conference match up against the rival Wolverines.

Hancock Owls are 12-0 after beating B-B-E 63-40

Winning for the 12th time this season against no losses, the Hancock Owls girls basketball team defeated host Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa tonight 63-40.

The Owls shot out to leads of 8-0 and 29-13 in the first half before the Jaguars went on a 9-2 run before the break.

Hancock quickly built the lead back into double digits in the second half and was never challenged down the stretch by the Jaguars.

Below, the Owls are on their way to an 8-0 start to the game with two minutes gone.


Up next for the Owls: a home game tomorrow (Jan. 18) against sub-section opponent Henning. The Hornets are 5-8 overall. They snapped a five-game losing streak last Friday night when they beat Ashby 44-39 on the Arrows' court.

Hancock Owls girls basketball survives a scare in Wheaton, wins 37-29

The Hancock Owls girls basketball team survived a battle with Wheaton/Herman-Norcross on Tuesday night this week, when they came back from a 17-12 halftime deficit to win by a final score of 37-29.

Illissa Koehl scored 12 points and had seven rebounds to lead the Owls, who improved to 10-0 overall and 3-0 in the Pheasant Conference.

Hancock Owls girls basketball improves to 9-0 with a convincing win over Maccray

The Hancock Owls girls basketball team defeated Maccray 58-36 to improve to 9-0 overall this season. The Owls, who are ranked #5 in the latest Class A poll, shot out to a 30-15 halftime lead.

"This was a very nice win for us over a quality MACCRAY team that just
knocked off third ranked Buffalo-Lake-Hector last Friday," stated Hancock head coach Jodi Holleman. "We have been working very hard on our presses the past couple days and it really showed out on the court. This was a total team effort by all of the girls."

Hancock shot 57% from the field and went 8-of-12 from beyond the arc. They travel to Wheaton/Herman-Norcross (Wheaton) to face the 5-5 Warriors in a Pheasant Conference game.

Hancock Owls girls basketball improves to 8-0 with a tough win over Dawson-Boyd

On Tuesday, January 4, the fifth ranked Hancock Owls girls basketball team defeated the Dawson-Boyd Blackjacks by a score of 49-44 in Hancock. The Owls (8-0) led 27-16 at the half and ended up shooting 37% from the field on the night.

They will host a very good Maccray team next Monday night.
